Asphalt Shingles are the most popular residential roofing material in use today and we’ve had great success installing them onto commercial buildings as well. They are typically composed of a fiberglass base mat that is covered with a waterproof ceramic granule-reinforced asphalt coating.
Asphalt shingles come in three main types, designed to meet the needs and budget of the property owner
- Architectural Shingles are the most popular shingles we install. “Dimensional” in appearance, these shingles are heavier and thicker than Traditional Three-Tab Shingles, offering better wind resistance. Architectural Shingles also have longer lifespans when compared to Traditional Three-Tab Shingles, which make them the preferred budget-friendly choice for many residential and commercial property owners.
- Luxury Shingles offer exactly what their name implies: premium asphalt shingles that simply have more of everything -fiberglass, asphalt and ceramic granules- that goes into making shingles of this type. With the appearance of a “slate’ or “shake” roof, they are the thickest and heaviest asphalt shingles available. Luxury Shingles offer superior wind protection and longer lifespans when compared to both Architectural and Traditional Three-Tab Shingles. These shingles are more expensive and they take slightly longer to install but they are the preferred choice for those who want premium, longer-lasting asphalt shingles with a more refined curbside appeal.
- Traditional Three-Tab Shingles are designed on a flat, single layer with the three “tabs” spaced evenly apart on the lower edge. “Flat” in appearance, these shingles offer a durable, affordable solution for property owners who need quality protection from the elements yet have budgetary restrictions.
